Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence

How Do I Nominate Someone?

Simply follow these six steps:

  1. Choose the appropriate award category
There are six award categories. Ask yourself: which one best describes the person you are nominating?

  2. Download and complete the nomination form
The nomination form asks for contact information for yourself and your nominee. The nomination form for the 2008-09 awards will be available in fall 2008.

  3. Get permission from your nominee
The Ministry of Education needs permission from both you and your nominee to use the information you provide.

  4. Find two people who will support your nomination
They should know the nominee and be willing to write a short letter explaining why your candidate should receive an award.

  5. Write letters explaining why your nominee deserves a Premier's Award
Your nomination letter and the two letters of support help the selection panel to appreciate your candidate's strengths. But keep them short! Each letter should be no more than five pages long and must be signed by the writer.

  6. Send it in before the nomination deadline
Nominations for the 2007-08 awards are now closed. More information on the 2008-09 awards will be available in fall 2008.

If you are nominating a team for Team of the Year

  • Send a completed nomination form for each member of the team (so we have their contact information and permission)
  • Your nomination letter and two letters of support should explain why the entire team should receive a Premier's Award
  • Each letter should still be no more than five pages long
