Ontario Crown Ward Postsecondary Application Fee Reimbursement Program

Purpose

The Ontario Crown Ward Postsecondary Application Fee Reimbursement Program is intended to refund current and former Ontario Crown wards for eligible postsecondary application fees paid to postsecondary institutions.

Refunds are available for applications made to full-time postsecondary programs starting in fall 2008 or later which lead to a first postsecondary degree, diploma or certificate.

Reimbursement Maximum

Current and former Crown wards may receive reimbursements of up to a maximum of $210 in fees for 2008-09 and 2009-10 academic year applications in up to two institutional categories:

  • Up to $180 for application fees charged by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) for up to five first entry university/program choices*.
  • $85 for the base fee the Ontario Colleges Application Service (OCAS) charges for up to five college/program choices. ($95 for 2009-10 academic year applications).
  • Up to $100 in application fees charged for OSAP approved programs offered by Ontario private postsecondary institutions.
  • Up to $100 in application fees charged for OSAP approved programs offered by out-of-province postsecondary institutions*.

There may be some additional fees and application fees charged by other institutions. These fees are not eligible for a refund.

*Application fees incurred applying to second entry professional programs such as law, medicine, faculties of education (teacher's college) and rehabilitation sciences are not eligible for reimbursement through the Ontario Crown Ward Postsecondary Application Fee Reimbursement Program.

Eligibility Requirements

Reimbursements are available to current and former Ontario Crown wards regardless of age, income or adoption status who have incurred postsecondary application fees for a first full-time college, university, private or out-of-province postsecondary degree, diploma or certificate program starting in the fall 2008 term or later.

Reimbursements are available for 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic year application fees incurred applying to approved programs of study.

Applications must be received no later than March 31, 2010 to be considered for a refund.
