Subject: French as a Second Language (FSL) Progress Report Summary

Please find attached the FSL Progress Report Summary, 2014-15 to 2016-17 highlighting a variety of actions implemented by school boards (shared in their three–year progress reports) and by the ministry in order to strengthen FSL eduction for all students.

It would be appreciated if you would send these attached documents to the Superintendent responsible for FSL and copy the FSL Leads in each of the boards in your region by the end of today, September 14, 2017.

In recognition of the completion of the first three-year cycle of the FSL Framework, please find attached the FSL Progress Report Summary, 2014-15 to 2016-17.

The document highlights a variety of goal-oriented strategies and actions implemented by school boards (as shared in their three-year progress reports) and by the ministry in order to strengthen FSL education for all students. Various stakeholders, including school board staff, the FSL Provincial Working Group and parent organizations have indicated that sharing such information is beneficial in supporting collaboration towards the attainment of provincial goals and the vision for FSL in Ontario.

The document also serves as a useful resource in the creation of the next three-year FSL plans, which are to be submitted to the Ministry by December 15, 2017. For your reference, the template for the 2017-18 to 2019-20 FSL three–year plans is also attached to this message.
