Subject: Reminder: Program Implementation Branch Achieving Excellence in Applied Courses (AEAC) Regional Professional Learning Sessions 2018

As part of the Ministry’s renewed goals for education, outlined in Achieving Excellence, as well as the Renewed Mathematics Strategy, Achieving Excellence in Applied Courses (AEAC) works with those secondary schools where student achievement in Grade 9 EQAO math is below the provincial rate. AEAC supports educator learning and the enhancement of principal capacity as transformational instructional leaders and facilitators of professional learning and improvement planning.

In February and March 2018, boards and school teams participating in AEAC are invited to attend a regional professional learning session. Teams will be comprised of:

  • The principal and one teacher from each school participating in AEAC
  • The AEAC board lead
  • The Student Success Leader
  • The Indigenous Support and Engagement Initiative (ISEI) teacher (from the 19 boards involved in ISEI)
  • Principals from schools identified through the Ontario Focused Intervention Partnership (OFIP)

The focus of the learning is on supporting students to attain a level of achievement and confidence which will enable them to explore pathways to apprenticeship, college, university and entry into the highly skilled workforce. Learning will be presented through the framework of equity, inclusion and well-being. Each session will incorporate a regional context provided by AEAC board leads.

Dates for the session are as follows:

  • Feb. 14 – London East
  • Feb. 15 – London West
  • Feb. 20 – Barrie
  • Feb. 21 – Toronto
  • Feb. 22 – Toronto
  • March 1 – Ottawa
  • March 7 – Sudbury/North Bay
  • March 20 – Thunder Bay

Registration information will be sent to AEAC board leads and Student Success Leaders.

Thank you very much for your continued collaboration and support for student success.
