Invitation to participate on the Minister's Early Years Advisory Committee

The passage of the Child Care Modernization Act, 2014 this past December was a monumental step towards modernizing the child care and early years system to support Ontario's children and families. The legislation will be officially proclaimed and come into effect Fall 2015. In order to implement and clarify all the requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the government will be drafting a broad range of regulations.

To support this regulatory work, the Minister is creating an advisory committee made up of representatives from the child care and early years sector. This advisory committee will provide an opportunity for key stakeholders to share perspectives and advice during the first steps of the transition, to a new legislative/regulatory framework for child care and early year's services. Moreover, in the long term this committee will serve to share perspectives and provide advice on the government's vision and strategy for early years and child care.

The Minister, would like to extend an invitation to you or a delegate from your organization to be a part of this committee. If you, or a delegate from your organization, is interested in participating on the advisory committee, please contact Jennifer Szeto at Jennifer.Szeto@ontario.ca or by phone at 416-212-7608 by February 24, 2015.

The first meeting is being scheduled for February 25, 2015 in downtown Toronto. Once your participation is confirmed, additional details of the first meeting and a Terms of Reference for the committee will be sent to you.

The Minister looks forward to your organization's participation on this committee to support the development of a responsive, high-quality and accessible child care and early year's system that will better serve Ontario's children and families.
