Provincial Parent Board
Parents play a critical role in education. The Ontario government is helping parents get involved in the education system. The Provincial Parent Board has two key roles:
- Advice: To advise the Minister of Education on how to increase parent involvement. It also helps the minister develop effective programs and supports for parent involvement - locally, at the board level, and across the province.
- Monitoring: To find out how involved parents are by monitoring:
- Parent involvement levels
- The implementation of programs that support parent involvement
- The effectiveness of parent involvement programs
The board has members from across the province. Each is a parent with at least one child in the publicly funded school system. Together, they will provide a strong voice for all parents on the future of education in Ontario.
