Initiatives and Professional Learning

The Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat (LNS) works directly with schools and boards to identify challenges and develop solutions to address them. Examples of LNS work with boards and schools include:

  • working with boards to develop goals and action plans for improving student learning and achievement
  • sharing research on evidence-informed teaching and learning practices
  • supporting systematic professional learning for teachers and administrators.

In Summer 2011, LNS is sponsoring literacy and numeracy professional learning opportunities for elementary teachers. These sessions provide educators with the opportunity to collaborate and observe specific teaching strategies, as well as reflect on their practices.
