Healthy Foods and Beverages in Elementary School Vending Machines

The health and well being of all students is a great concern to the Ministry of Education. Good eating habits are best learned early in life.

That is why in 2004, the Ministry of Education provided school boards with nutrition standards for food and beverages sold in elementary school vending machines.

In September 2011, as part of the overall strategy to promote a healthier lifestyle to young people, the new School Food and Beverage Policy, which was established under the Healthy Foods for Healthy Schools Act, will replace the policy for Healthy Foods and Beverages in Elementary School Vending Machines.
