Experiential Learning: Awards

Employer Champion Awards and Ontario Employer Designation

The Provincial Partnership Council: promoting school-work programs
The Provincial Partnership Council (PPC) is a volunteer advisory committee comprised of leaders from the private, public and voluntary sectors. It is focussed on getting more employers to participate in school-work programs for high school students and promoting these programs to employers.

The council works towards this goal by:

  1. Championing school-work learning opportunities in members' own workplaces.
  2. Organizing and supporting the Employer Champion Awards and the Ontario Employer Designation awards.
  3. Providing feedback on workplace issues to the Ministry of Education.

The activities of the council are supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Recognizing Ontario employers
The Employer Champion awards and the Ontario Employer Designation recognize Ontario employers who have provided outstanding school-work experiences to high school students in their community.
Employers can be recognized for offering students:

  • job shadowing
  • school-work transition programs
  • mentoring
  • classroom or worksite visits
  • career talks
  • cooperative education
  • Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
