Dear Reader:

It is a pleasure to release the 14th annual Employment Profile of graduates from Ontario’s colleges of applied arts and technology.

This document provides a snapshot of the employment experiences of 2001–2002 college graduates six months after graduation. Information on graduate and employer satisfaction is also included.

Statistics show that the youth unemployment rate continues to remain higher than that for the general population. Yet this report shows that 87% of 2001–2002 college graduates found employment within six months of graduation.

Our colleges provide a wide range of real learning and training opportunities our young people need to find and keep jobs. They play an important role in training the technicians and skilled workers that employers need to keep our economy strong.

The information provided in the Employment Profile is used to improve college programs and to provide useful information for potential college students who are making career choices and program selections.

My sincere thank you to each Ontario college graduate and employer for taking the time to complete the Graduate Outcomes/Graduate Satisfaction and Employer Satisfaction surveys and helping us develop this useful source of labour market information.

Yours sincerely,

Mary Anne Chambers
Minister
