Port Colborne Business Helping Students Succeed

McGuinty Government Recognizes Employers Supporting Student Jobs, Future Careers

J. Oskam Steel Fabricators Ltd. is being recognized for helping students gain hands-on learning opportunities for their future careers.

This custom steel fabricator received an Employer Champion Award for providing high school students with valuable work experience for more than 15 years through mentoring, co-op, Specialist High Skills Major placements and classroom visits. In their placements at the company, co-op students learn about the different skills involved in the trades.

Building more opportunities for students to gain the skills and experience they need for the jobs of tomorrow is part of the McGuinty government's plan to support student success while securing a brighter future for all Ontarians.
