Consultation

Consultation with the ministry's stakeholders has been critical to the review, development and implementation of the financial accountability framework.

The ministry continues to establish ongoing and ad-hoc committees, such as the Provincial Financial Accountability Committee, the Code of Accounts Committee, and the Enrolment and Register Committee. The ministry also consults on financial matters with other stakeholder groups, such as trustee and board associations, senior business officials, directors of education and other school board officials.

The committees, usually co-chaired by ministry and board staff, provide a forum for input that contributes to the ongoing improvement of financial reporting methods and accountability procedures.

Regional meetings with board staff, held yearly or more often, also provide a forum for discussing issues and voicing concerns.
