To support Ontario students with digital learning opportunities, the Ministry of Education is providing funding for one e-Learning Contact (eLC) per district school board during the 2012-13 school year. The eLC will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination in their board for all aspects of e-learning including:

• Blended learning
• Homework Help
• Ministry-funded digital resources – including licensed software and web services recommended by the Ontario Software Acquisition Program Advisory Committee.

Examples of the eLC's leadership and coordination duties include:

• Aligning the school board's e-learning implementation with other board initiatives, board and school improvement plans and e-Learning Ontario policy
• Developing a plan to expand/support blended learning using provincial tools and resources such as the provincial learning management system, Ontario Educational Resource Bank and e-Community
• Planning for Homework Help implementation to ensure awareness of and access to the program by Grade 7-10 mathematics students within the board
• Evaluating the board's current implementation process for ministry-funded digital resources such as licensed software and web services, the Ontario Educational Resource Bank and resources provided through the EduGAINS website.
