Licensed Home-Based Child Care Providers:

Unlicensed Home-Based Child Care Providers:

If you are an unlicensed home-based child care provider, or are considering becoming one, new rules and regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act came into effect on August 31, 2015. These include:

  • You may still care for a total of five children in your own home, but that number must now include your own children under the age of 4.
  • You may care for a maximum of three children under the age of 2 (including your own children).
  • You must provide parents with receipts for child care services.
  • With specific exceptions, all providers are required to allow parental access to the premises and their child.
