Changes are being proposed to extend collective bargaining rights to part-time college workers in Ontario.

In August, 2007, the government announced its intention to extend collective bargaining rights to part-time college workers in Ontario.

A review of the Colleges Collective Bargaining Act (CCBA) has been conducted by Kevin Whitaker, Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Public consultations were held in November, 2007.

A report including recommendations on proposed amendments to the CCBA has now been submitted to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities.

The Minister will review the recommendations of the report to determine the government’s next steps forward.
