We all want our schools to provide the best possible education. And knowing what works for our kids and why is at the heart of what makes a successful school.
The Schools on the Move program includes a selection of schools that have improved student achievement in a variety of circumstances. They then share their materials, teaching ideas, resources and strategies with other schools in similar situations. Information is shared by:
- Delivering presentations at teaching conferences
- Participating in learning networks
- Exchanging information during in-person teacher visits
- Virtual visits using the Internet.
Some of these successful ideas include:
- Staff teamwork across grades
- Teachers participating in professional learning communities
- Encouraging parent and community involvement
- Techniques to track children's progress.
Schools are located throughout the province, in every type of community.
