Environmental Education

Environmental education teaches students about how the earth’s physical and biological systems work and how we can create a more sustainable future. Environmental education is becoming part of the learning in all subjects and grades and is also being woven into activities that help to develop character and build literacy and numeracy skills. Secondary students can take environmentally focused courses and programs.

Research has shown that environmental education not only increases environmental literacy but also contributes to higher academic achievement by increasing student engagement.

Our approach to environmental education is intended to go beyond the classroom and promote environmental responsibility within all school actions. Schools and community members are encouraged to work together to develop environmentally sound practices and solutions.
